Are you wondering, “How to get a medical marijuana card in Oklahoma?” You’ll be happy to learn the process couldn’t be simpler, especially when you work with a team of professionals. We aim to make the process as efficient and painless as possible.

With that in mind, we’ve created this guide to help you further understand how the process works.

Qualifying

According to state law, the only way to qualify for a medical marijuana card is to have a genuine relationship with a provider. This means you must have a relationship with a medical professional who specifically approves medical cannabis as a treatment for a qualifying medical condition.

There’s no significant scope regarding the definition of a qualifying medical condition. You just need to be older than 18 years of age. Minors can also qualify but need two providers to sign the prescription which must also be approved by a guardian.

Most applicants to CannabisRxHealth find it’s just a matter of negotiating the state’s bureaucracy. However, we examine all applicants and offer advice and guidance on whether medical marijuana is the right treatment option.

Registering with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA)

All applicants for an Oklahoma medical marijuana card must register on the portal of the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA).

Once you are 18 years old, and you have an Adult Patient Physician Recommendation Form, you can apply at the OMMA. Once the application is approved after the payment of the application fee, the card is mailed to you within 14 days.

Renewals will be processed no earlier than 30 days before the expiration date listed on your card.

At CannabisRxHealth, we don’t believe cost should be a barrier to medical treatment. As such, we offer an affordable service designed to help you meet the state’s requirements.

Just click the “GET STARTED” button on our website and fill out our form. You’ll be able to choose an appointment time that suits you with our online scheduling feature.

Once you arrive at our center, a medical professional will review and examine your medical records. Most appointments take no more than 15 minutes. Your professional will either approve or deny your application after the appointment.

If your application was approved, we can guide you through the rest of the process, including getting your Oklahoma medical card.

In the event your application for a medical marijuana card was denied, we’ll refund your application fee in full.

Everything You Need to Know About Medical Marijuana in Oklahoma

Like in most states where cannabis is only legal for medical reasons, marijuana laws in Oklahoma are straightforward.

Consumers must however be aware of how medical marijuana in Oklahoma works to avoid falling foul of the law.

General Overview

The law to legalize cannabis for medicinal purposes came into effect in 2018. The law created the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority, which accepts online applications for medical marijuana. There's no specific qualifying condition that is required to receive medical marijuana, although the prescribing physician must approve it.

The law is however specific about how dispensaries can obtain license to sell the products.

Medical marijuana has improved the lives of thousands of Oklahomans who suffer from chronic pain and crippling medical conditions daily.

Most telling is how support throughout Oklahoma has shifted dramatically in favor of increased legalization for cannabis at all levels.

At the moment, Oklahoma does not permit the use of recreational cannabis.

Qualifying Conditions

You cannot get an Oklahoma medical marijuana card online without first obtaining a signed certification through a medical professional.

According to the Harvard Medical School, cannabis is primarily used for pain relief. It should come as no surprise that the majority of Oklahoma medical cannabis cardholders suffer from chronic pain.

In Oklahoma, there’s no specific condition that qualifies for medical marijuana. As long as the physician deems it necessary, you are qualified.

What Can I Get With My Medical Card?

There are licensed dispensaries throughout the State of Oklahoma. Approved patients licensed through the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority are limited in the types of products they can purchase for their conditions.

The products medical cardholders can purchase include:

  • 3 ounces (85 g) of marijuana
  • 6 mature marijuana plants (defined as plants that are in the budding stage)
  • 6 seedling plants (defined as plants that are in the vegetative stage and are not yet budding)
  • 1 ounce (28 g) of concentrated marijuana
  • 72 ounces (2,000 g) of edible marijuana
  • 8 ounces (230 g) of marijuana in their residence

You can also obtain Smokable forms of medical marijuana which can only be consumed by license holders in any place that permits it. Edible forms of medical marijuana can be consumed anywhere in Oklahoma.

Possession Limits

Oklahoma criminalises certain possession of medical marijuana without license.

Caregiver Laws

According to Oklahoma law, a caregiver must be a family member or assistant who regularly looks after the medical marijuana patient for whom they are applying to be a caregiver.

The caregiver must register with the OMMA and after successful registration will be issued a card. The card will contain

  • caregiver’s name,
  • photo,
  • date of birth,
  • city and county of residence,
  • the type of license,
  • expiration date,
  •  caregiver’s unique medical marijuana license number,
  • unique medical marijuana license number of the patient.

According to the OMMA, Caregiver licenses are valid up to the expiration date of the associated patient’s license, not to exceed two years.
